Modigliani Movie

I found the Modigliani movie actually pretty interesting. Modigliani and Pacaso had a different relationship between eachother. They were both painters, but it seemed like they were there to push the other one. It felt that Pacaso thought that Modigliani was better than he thought he was and that Pacaso was pushing Modigliani to become a better painter and to appreciate the art more.

Michigan ad.

The setting of this particular ad would not have any particular setting. The ad would be stronger during the NCAA college football season. The ad would be even strongest when Michigan University wouldb e playing The Ohio State university. The subjects in the ad would be the University of Michigan, all those who are attending and have attended school there. There is really no other images in the ad other than the Michigna logo. The story behind the ad would be all about the University of Michigan. The traditions that have arose and the continuing students and past students that have attended school there. The University was founded in Detroit in 1817 as one of the first public universities in the country. The school moved westward to Ann Arbor in 1837, when Ann Arbor was only 13 years old. When the first classes were taughtin 1841, University of Michigan had two professors and seven students. Those viewing this ad could possibly be Michigan fans and then really like the ad or they could on the other hand not be Michigan fans at all and not like the ad at all. The person meant to see this ad is someone thta is a Michigan fan, someone who has gone to Michiganm or someone who is highly interested in the Michigan University. Again with this ad the makers are not trying to connect to any other target market than specifiec. The target market that is obvious is the traket market chosen from the makers. There are not really any markets of race, ethnicuty, gender, age, etc. The only possibility would be age. The relationshop between the text and the imagery is everything Michigan stands for. The colors are the school colors and Michigan is the name of the Univeristy. I think that the image is both shown and promoting a lifestyle at the same time. What Michigan University is promoting is shown, although they are promoting the Michigan University lifestyle also. Becoming a fan or staying a fan of the university and living the Michigan lifestyle.

If I were a Michigan fan while seeeing this ad then I woukd be pleased with it and would make me want to buy or purchase more Michigan belongings. It would also get me in the mood for the college football season. The problem is that I am not a Michigan fan, I am a Ohio State fan. When I see this, it makes me look even more forward to the already fast approaching college football season and wanting to watch The Ohio State University beat on Michigan for another year! GO BUCKS!!!!!!!

Coffee machine ad.

The setting of this particular ad seems to be in the Christmas time. The coffee sups are making a Christmas tree and the saying at the bottom, "enjoy the Christmas taste with Nespresso coffee machine", makes me believe that this ad is intended for the Christmas season. At the bottom right they show the actual real life coffee machine that one would buy. The story of the ad is getting everyone in the jolly Christmas mood. There is a Christmas tree made out of coffee cups and Christmas is a loving time of the year and the people at Nespresso are suggesting that with this coffee you could have a better time. This ads target market would be set up for any age really. Many people drink coffee at all ages. Another target markget that Nespresso is shooting for is anyone that celebrates Christmas and loves coffee or drink a lot of coffee. think that the makers of this ad are not trying to have a hidden target market mixed in with this ad. I believe that they have made tge ad oretty self explanatory and the target market very noticable. There could be the idea of gender involved with this ad although. Most coffee drinkers are usually in the older category, but not all. The text in the ad explains why the cups are set up the way they are and tells the reader of the ad what time frame this ad was made in. The soft white letters make it more innocent and appealing to the reader, making the reader feel more ok with buying the product. The image in the ad really supposrts the workds in the ad making the ad more appealing. The image says to the reader, "If you like Christmas and Christmas trees, then you will like this product." The product is shown in the ad so that the reader has the chance to take a look at what the actual product they would be buying would look like.

My response to this ad is that I think it would appeal to most people and that it is a good ad to promote. Although, I myself am nota coffee drinker and do not like coffee, therefore, it is not going to matter what the ad has in it or has to offer because I already do not like that the product will be used for. It seems that Nespresso does have good views and the same possible views as I do, although, the ad its self will still not sway me to drink coffee.

Comparing and Contrasting Artwork for May 12th

I chose the digital art of a wolf composed by Vedrana Misanovic and the body charcoal drawling by Michelle Anderson. I really enjoy the amount of detail from the wolf picture. I like how Vedrana used the contrast of colors to really catch your eye and make it stand out from everything else. With Michelles foam board drawling there also is a lot of detail, which is nice. I really like how she split the piece up. It is like Michelle is wanting us to see every little piece of this in more detail and helping it to stand out.

Comparing and Contrasting Artwork for May 5th

I chose to do the painting by Elizabeth Cramer titled New York Series and comparing it to Kate Varney's "untitled" painting. I Really like all of the detail coming from Elizabeth's painting. You can tell exactly what every piece is in it. On the other hand is Kate's painting, which is totally different. Kate's painting has much more texture to it and it is more of an imaginable painting. It is like she threw the paint on at the top and let it drip down into shapes, which is neat because you can imagine what you want about it.

Comparing and Contrasting Artwork

I chose the artwork from Molly Smith and Billy Fry to compare and contast. I chose Molly's alien sculpture and I chose Billy's "self portait in 45 minutes". I found these two artworks very different. First Molly's was a very detailed sculpture from her imagination. Billy's was a loose drawing of him looking in a mirror drawling himself in 45 minutes. What I found similar to them was that they both were what each of them liked to do. Molly liked the fleshy looking objects and Billy liked the more non-fictional figures. I found them appealing because of the detail with making the two artworks. and the imagination.

Voyeur

I liked the movie Rear Window and I do see my self as a type of voyeur. I think that everyone is a potental voyeur because we all observe and gaze at different things, whether it is artwork or people. I do not get offended when being said to be a voyeur because I do not see any harm being done.
